Erawan waterfalls are enchanting waterfalls near Kanchanaburi. There are seven tiers you can climb up to, and Erawan falls are a perfect place to take a refreshing dip. Watch out for the cute little fish and not so cute bigger fish that nibble your feet. Don’t worry, they aren’t dangerous. Here’s how to get from Kanchanaburi to Erawan falls.
Make sure you visit on a week day, as on the weekends it can get blooming busy. Erawan falls tiers 1 and 2 particularly can get pretty busy, the rest aren’t too bad apart from the top one! So climb up and explore.
How to get from Kanchanaburi to Erawan falls
We took the rickety public bus from Kanchanaburi to Erawan Falls. I really love the buses in Thailand, they are proper old school. The bus was adorably retro but my gosh our driver was a maniac.
Where to catch the Kanchanaburi to Erawan falls bus
You can get the bus from the Kanchanaburi bus station at 8am, or you can wait on the road 323, outside the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery to pick up the bus. You’ll have to flag it down. There may not be seats as it will be full of tourists.
The bus takes you all the way through the gates (stopping so you can pay the woman who jumps on) to the changing rooms, restaurants and info centre for the waterfalls. This is where it will also pick you up from. The journey takes about 1.5 hours each way.
Remember to bring your passport
Bring your passport as there are police checkpoints on the way and they want to see ID.

Public bus: 50 THB (around $1.60 USD)
Erawan waterfall rules
The staff at Erawan falls are strict when it comes to food and water bottles. You will be asked to leave your food at a stand and you have to pay a deposit on your water bottle. This is to stop people dumping their litter in the waterfalls. To get your deposit back you show the staff your bottle on your way out. You will also be able to get your food back as you leave.
