Yes. Perhaps not as much character as some others but location is good…and then there’s the pool 😉
I’m sure we’ll figure something out re transport to Kanchanaburi. If a taxi comes in at tb1000-1500 it’s possibly a better bet than 4 seats in a minibus anyway…we’ll see what we come up with!

You can always Google taxi price from a to b in Bangkok to give you an idea what the fare should be. Then you either have to negotiate a fixed price or find a taxi driver who will use his meter. Be sure to double-check the train times and stations. Mango Lagoon looks like a good location, close to the water transportation and Khao San area.

For the second half of our trip we have decided on 6 nights in Chiang Mai. Night train to Bkk. 4 nights in a raft house in Kanchanaburi (including hopefully an overnight at Elephants World). Not quite sure how we’ll do the trip from Bkk train st (arr 6.50 if on time) to Kanchanaburi- might try for the 7.20 train if we can get there easily enough and in time but that might be a bit of an ask. I read the post where you mentioned a taxi- I think you were quoted TB1000 which sounds do-able.
Then we can enjoy the train trip back to Bkk from Kanchanaburi (regardless of however we get there!) We’re booked into a family room at Mango Lagoon for our last few nights to enjoy the Bkk madness from the centre of it all and a last chance of a swim in a pool 🙂
