I have always been an over-packer, but knowing I had size and weight restrictions led me to buy this pack. I was easily able to take what I needed for our 16-day trip with room left for a few souvenirs on the way back. Despite my inexperience in using a backpack, this was so much easier than rolling a suitcase over cobblestone streets and the pedestrian bridges (most with stairs) in Venice. The pack itself weighs so little that I was easily able to heft it into the overhead bins on the plane, unlike a suitcase. I am a petite woman at 5'1" and this pack was very comfortable on my frame. I'm a convert!

There was also another difference in the shoulder straps, the XS/S had specialized Osprey clips to attach something else, while the S/M had elastic sewn across that could be used to attach something to it. Osprey changed systems so the older model has clips and the newer ones have the elastic.
I ended up returning both, since a 19" size would have been my preference due to airline restrictions.
If I were to keep one, I would have kept the S/M due to the shoulder strap placement making the pack ride more comfortably. I am 5'2" and according to the Osprey fitting chart with my torso length either size would work.

I am a 5'4", 130lbs female. When fully loaded at 8kg I realized it was a bit heavy but hip belt really helps in distribution of weight. Able to fit 2 pants, 2 thin sweaters, 4 short sleeved/2 long sleeved t-shirts, 5 socks/5 underwear, hiking boots, umbrella, small first aid kit, quart sized bag of toiletries, packable Gonex 40L backpack, travel guide and a Canon DSLR with lens and camera bag. Highly recommend using 2 medium sized packing cubes for clothing. Also recommend purchasing a cable lock instead of regular luggage lock, makes it easier to lock zippers on both compartments together.

The bag has got great padding in the straps and back, along with a ‘tech’ compartment in the front which can hold an iPad/laptop which is also padded. The main bag compartment is huge for a 40L bag. There are so many great features to this bag - definately watch some YouTube videos to see them all.
Using this bag to go travelling, very excited to use it and am expecting it to last a long time!
This backpack was brilliant.
Note I am fat, old and unfit and I found this backpack to be comfy enough. It was pretty crammed as I'm used to suitcases and 4*+ all inclusive where I don't need to think about what I pack.
On others advice I bought packing cubes, and whilst not necessary, did help keep items together.
The main compartment opens like a suitcase. There are two additional areas for tablets, books, phones etc. Plus 2 side pockets for water bottles.
The straps are comfy and once properly adjusted make carrying 10kg bearable.
Used as carry on luggage on Jet2.
My other half was miffed that the women's has a key clip when the mens doesn't.
Only thing that would make it better would to give different colour internal straps for ease of notice.
Yes the colour is more olive green than grey but personally I liked it and thought it looked classy.
Recommended you buy this bag.
The only downside is it doesn't come with a raincover, so I recommend buying a cover also, as it does tend to get quite dirty. But not essential!
I checked the bag in for all flights but did see some other travellers using it as their carry on. Sometimes if it was really full it seemed quite deep, so didnt want to risk it. But I reckon it could be done especially if it was less packed. The outter straps really let you close it further and compress it down even further when closed ;)
Looking forward to using it again when travel opens back up!!

I find it to be very comfortable; everything strapwise is adjustable. I never used the water bottle pockets, but even with all the stuff I packed I still would have easily fit 2 water bottles in there.
It's very easy to tuck in and zip up the straps in the back. I usually did it while I was waiting in line to board.
I guess the only downfall is it doesn't have a lot of pockets to organize things, but in the grand scheme of things that really didn't affect my travel and it makes it more convenient to use packing cubes
I definitely would recommend this bag. Great brand, great price.
