There is a student ( child) fee as well as OAPs etc. For locals the price is lower or maybe free.
Yes, I find it frustrating too. I’m a firm believer in museums being free for everyone, coming from London, where they always have been free, for everyone.
But somebody has to pay foe admin and restoration, in the UK it’s the tax payers, I’m more than happy to shoulder that. ( The Tories will do away with that soon!)

In India and a lot of places in Asia, the price is different for locals and foreigners. That is totally unfair as we pay a very high price in addition to our flight when even the rich locals pay almost nothing. They don’t use the same system than us with a low price for some categories like students, unemployed, etc.
