It was very impressive to see about a millipon bats flying out of the cave.

All day on a river, with villages on the banks and then floating boat villages. Canoes would pull up alongside our boat; they would deliver goods and pick up packages delivered from Battambang. Bring binoculars as the bird life is incredible, and it’s hard to find good field glasses in Asia.

None of us could be bothered to wait around for another hour Brooke, we were all a bit meh about bats. The kids were fine, so long as you feed and water them well they’re happy.

We didn’t really know much about it before we arrived but ended up staying for nearly a week. It was a perfect place to relax after our hectic time in Bangkok and Siem Riep.

It’s definitely a city that is overlooked on a lot of travellers’ itineraries – which in one way, is a shame, as they are missing out on a wonderful. But on the other hand, it keeps it lovely and quiet for the travellers who do stop there!

It made me feel like I was in the tuk tuk with you all. They were wonderful pictures of the sites that you saw. I would love to make it there one day with my family. The bat cave at dusk would have been a sight to see I’m sure. I am curious about how it is to travel with children in situations where you really want to experience something and want them to see it too but at times “there’s only so much gas in the tank” for kiddos! Did you leave before you saw it because the boys were tired and ready to get back? Thanks!
