Very helpful staff and other passengers were very easy to share a cabin with. One of the vendors at the first morning stop - would have been about 7am(?) grabbed about 1m Dong out of my wallet as I was trying to buy a coffee. I was just waking up, had my wallet out and she gestured like she was going to show me the right amount, wouldn’t actually say the number. When I said hey, that was two 500k notes she gave me back 2 20k notes. Tried to protest but she walked off the train and around the corner, I saw her hop on a scooter and drive off. I didn’t say anything to the staff on the train. It’s not viet rails fault, but maybe something to be aware off. I had a great trip! Thank you :)

Very Nice Cabin. We went on second class from Ho Chi Minh to Da nang. The train was on time, and very friendly staff who helped us by telling us when we were at our right destination so we could get off the train. We were in a cabin with four beds. We had the two upper ones. We are both 180-190 cm tall, and there was room enough for us to stay comfortable. We brought our luggage inside so we could keep an eye on it at all times. There was pillow and blanket in the cabin. We shared the cabin with a two others. Also a woman with a small child - it was hard to sleep for the child crying and playing with toys. There should be a cabin for people with children. The man we shared the cabin with moves to another cabin because of the noise. Be aware that there is not good possibilities to get something to eat on the train, and that it can be a long ride without food. (Or the quality you can buy at the train) All in all a great trip

We bought our tickets 2 weeks before the trip through the 12goasia website. We traveled in 1st class (4 soft beds/cabin) and 12goasia choose our seats, big mistake. We got 2 top bunke which ment we could not sit properly for 17 hours.. We were 6 people in our cabin (2 kids), there was no room and a lot of noice. It was dirty and full of bugs, the bed clothes were not washed after use, only re-folded. They didn't clean the cabins or toilets. Not worth the price and a bad experience all together.

I think is almost fair for the price. If you are unlucky and get the top bed, you'll have no room to move. Aside from that (I got the bottom one) beds are hard but not terrible and the sheets are clean. The toilet though is... Just not. I mean, people don't even flush after taking a dump. It gets worst the longer the trip (started at 10 pm, by 10 am it was pretty irreversible). You don't have any meals included with the cheapest ticket, so either get something before or buy from them (it's around 35k the lunch, size ok but maybe not entirely enough for someone my size, 1.94 haha)

After reading some of the reviews I was filled with trepidation about this 16-hr train ride. Overall, however, I was relieved. Better than expected, but honestly my expectations were very low. I reserved 4-person bunk for my family of four. If we were not in one cabin together I would not have chosen this route. The plane is only 1.5 hours for same destination, but my kids wanted to try overnight train. 1. We saw a roach on our wall within 10 minutes (it was the only roach we saw and we were able to kill it immediately); 2. the AC was freezing at night and no one could get warm despite sweatshirts with blankets layered over; 3. the toilets were horrid though we survived (we may have dehydrated ourselves to get through it though, and one of my kids suffered the next day as a result); 4. cigarette smoke wafted through the vents frequently night and day; 5. there were other odors throughout the trip -- some of them quite unpleasant; 6. the usb plugs did not work for our Apple phones and iPads. But: the views were beautiful; we had windows on both sides though the coast was on the side where the window was across the narrow hall; we all slept better than we expected and were not interrupted by conductors or peddlers; the hot food was basic but surprisingly accommodated vegetarians (tofu in tomato sauce with boiled cabbage over rice). It is not first class by any western country's standards, but it was fine. We actually enjoyed the trip, despite the ills. 16 hours flew by!

The process using the 12GO website made for some confusion at the airport, where I was asked for credit card details for a flight I thought I had already paid. I di not recognise the credit numbers they were presenting me with and as such, had to pay AGAIN for my tickets and hope for a refund. It was only later that I remembered a mention of a virtual credit card supplied by 12GO and realised that was it, but too late. 12GO was good for information, but I should have gone directly suppliers website for product. Hope I get my refund

Booking process through 12goAsia very easy and efficient. The SE2 train was fine and staff were good, trying to keep everything clean on the way. Toilets were mixed - but have experienced worse on UK trains! Good information about stops and only an hour late arriving in Da Nang, which wasn’t a problem for us fortunately. Bunks were adequate, air con worked well (maybe too well!) and power and bunk lights appreciated. Scenery great - well worth the journey over flying. Thanks.

Really long overnight journey (over 20 hours). A little too long on the train for the family for that length of time. Recommend splitting journey up into more manageable chunks. Beds ok but not super comfortable and train is noisy and bumpy by western standards. Staff were delightful. An experience but don’t expect 1st class luxury!

Great experience but will be the first and last train trip in Vietnam due to the dirty train, very uncomfortable first class beds and the extremely dirty smelly toilets. Take a plane it’s about the same price as a first class cabin
