Really disappointed with this book. The author has no real experience with the dive sites. It seems all he did was interview other divers for recommendations. Gather a smattering of general info and publish that as this book for profit. It is not a guide of where to dive. No specific dives are listed. no locations, depths, expected encounters. Not at all what I was hoping for. A waste of a great title.. Save your money.

This book is very anecdotal and not very helpful in helping to find cool dive sites. I honestly could write a better one with some of the dives I've done. I can't belive there wasn't anything on the Red Sea.

I thought it was a weak and superficial summary of well known diving locales. In a book like this you are hoping for two things: some great photography, and the revealing a few "hidden gems". A trite summary of where in the world the tourists go was not what I had been hoping for.

Ordered this to keep as a coffee table book to spark conversation!
Love the oceans and everything about it, didnt expect to like the book as much as we did. But we read some every night and just had to start making a bucket list!
Really cool book!

I always read reviews on Amazon about items I want to buy - I usually actually will not buy anything that has a lot of neg. input on the product - The Title of this book SOLD me. In truth , this is like a very mini size table book or bathroom book that as a diver, would not keep your attention to actually read the whole thing. Save your money and don't buy this one !!!! The pics are not even good in the book.

Purchased this book for a friend of mine who is a Scuba Instructor, he absolutely loved it! Makes a great addition to his coffee table and a wonderful talking point when he has guest. Pictures and information within the book are great. For more ideas on dive adventures subscribe to his YouTube Channel "TJ Diver"

This was a gift to a friend who has gone to many places in Asia to dive. Font used in this book could be larger.

Nice pictures. Short on location detail. Dated

I am 56 years old and I went scuba diving for the first time recently.
Locations then naturally pop into this muddled head and this book helps to give some ideas.
Biggest problem is that it is very generalised and I suspect done from a point of view that money is no object.
It is based on the abilities of a very experienced diver.
I say this because masses of information are based on in what appears to be very open and quite deep water. The realm of experience.
That said, there are some very nice photographs and it is nice to have the dream that maybe someday I can do that.
The book also lacks detail about locations.
It is an older book so what information there is, is very probably out of date.

A good gift for a diver

Based on real people’s reviews of places they have been which may only be a few each. Bought for my partner she’s fairly happy with it, but it doesn’t mention the titanic of the Mediterranean & not many pictures which was disappointing

Definitively not the definitive guide
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 3, 2011Verified Purchase
The book is a bit of a let down. Having travelled the world in my great quest for the ultimate dive I was surprised not to sea the Thistlegorm or any other sites in the Red Sea getting a mention. In addition many of the Experts are local dive operations - obviously biased about their sites - perhaps to the detriment of locations more worthy of a mention. It appears that the author commenced with a single source and follwed were that led him rather then to conduct any real detailed research. Nice pictures but not enough of them.
