We used this one because we’d used them 20 years ago. Look at times, price, duration and menu, they’re all pretty much the same. Just make sure everyone has their own cooking station and it’s hands-on rather than demonstration.

We meet quite a few Germans on the road Victoria, travelling to escape that school system for their kids. It’s terribly controlling to remove a parent’s rights like that.

It’s so nice to see you have quality time with your sons. I think I know what you mean re worldschooling v homeschooling. I’d say that you are home-schooling your boys. I think when people use the term worldschooling, they’re thinking of communities that are disconnected to other parts of the country /world, and wish to learn / teach together.

When I think of home-schooling, I think of the parent taking a much greater part as to what, when, and how, they would like their children to learn. I’ve always liked the idea of home-schooling, but it’s illegal to do so in Germany. The closest you get is parents setting up schools themselves or using the Freien Schulen or non-governmental (independent) schools which allow parents to decide what educational concept they want to use, if any. This is allowed and promoted by the state so that parents have far more choices than you would get than in the UK. However, you can’t go back and forth. You’re either out of the traditional state system, or in. We started out of the system and then decided to go into the German system (somewhat) once we realized that we were really staying in Germany!

We chose a combination of bilingual independent when our son was in kindergarten, then international school (in which I was in charge of many things lol!) for primary school, then elite science grammar school (German). And it doesn’t cost the earth either!
